Latvian Karbonāde recipe

Karbonāde is a traditional Latvian pork chop dish that is often breaded and pan-fried. It makes for a hearty and flavorful main course.

Karbonāde Recipe:

  • 2 pork chops
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  1. Season the pork chops on both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. Dip the chops in the beaten egg.
  3. Coat thoroughly in breadcrumbs on both sides.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Fry breaded chops for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with parsley if desired.

Karbonāde is best enjoyed with boiled potatoes or potato salad on the side. The crispy breaded exterior and juicy pork interior make this a cherished Latvian meal. Adjust cooking time if using thicker pork chops.
